Our Story
The Bantam Bistro, located in the landmark Litchfield Inn, features eclectic American cuisine with an Italian flair. The casual yet sophisticated dining room provides the perfect ambiance for power lunches, relaxed gatherings and romantic dinners. Our chic modern bar features a refined lounge menu and fashionable cocktail list with over 118 wines hand chosen especially for the wine connoisseur.
Executive Chef Jonathan Gyles is excited to share his passion for food and vibrant flavors at the Bantam Bistro with you. Chef Gyles grew up in England and traveled extensively throughout Europe, finally landing in Italy where he gained first-hand knowledge of Italian cuisine while working and training in Piedmont. Most recently, he worked with Nicola Mancini at La Tavola Ristorante, voted Best New Restaurant and Best Italian Restaurant in New Haven County.
The Bantam Bistro proudly sources local and organic products from Connecticut and surrounding communities. Chef Gyles has hand-picked such savory delights as; Nodine’s cured meats and sausages, Farmer’s Cow Milk, Arethus and Cato Corner Farmhouse cheeses and Mountain Top Mushrooms. The bar features wines from local vineyards and notable area beers including Shock Top and Long Trail brews.
